The WTS and Same-Sex Marriage
by Quendi inwe all know the wts position on same-sex marriage, but i thought it was interesting to see this piece on its website.
i think what intrigues me the most is that the wts approach is, as i once told the elders on my judicial committee, "inadequate, incomplete and insufficient".
the peice then goes on to give the typical fairy-tale solution to what it perceives as a problem with the experience of someone they call "nathan" and how he was able to completely change thanks to god's holy spirit working on him.

Not sure if it's my long-winded posts, the colors I choose to post in or if I offend people, (or just my own paranoia, although I think I am pretty intuitive for the most part) but your kindness came at a day I thought would be my last postings on here. it was plain to see that the sister was suffering from serious mental problems.
she was a very nice lady, but was unstable a lot of the time.

What a horrible story, and I am sorry for the loss of her life as well as what the elders forced upon you. However, perhaps you were put in that car for a reason. You had even greater empathy for her after that belittling, and understood her situation more clearly than others. YOU were the one that would cross her path while walking. I am sure she felt comfort from that, despite what had happened. Hearing what that fucking elder put her through makes me wish I could pummel him and leave him on the curb, only for him to get up and be struck by a car
I always felt bad for those of emotional distress and our hall seemed to have quite a few who were on meds. Hell, I'm sure I should have been too. I would hate how some would talk about these "mentally unstable" ones. Like they were lower class or something. (One day I may end up telling the story of how my roommate began thinking she was one of the 144k and partook one year. Oh did the shit hit the fan that year!)
In fact, to this day I feel guilty because of a sister who was schizophrenic and appeared to commit suicide (pill overdose) in a hotel a few days after telling her she could no longer stay with me (small place, unpredictable behaviour, etc.) Some friends, aware of some of the actual accounts tried to reassure me it wasn't my fault. Still, although the guilt has subsided, I will feel regretful until MY death.
One of the things I always held on to was that in the new system, all these beautiful people will have their minds restored (as will those with physical impairments). Course, if it were up to the GB, anyone committing suicide would not get a resurrection
Now, I have no idea what the future holds for any of us. I would like to believe that good-hearted people will be in a place, no matter where that may be, where they can be whole...Whatever that may be for each of us. And I'm still holding on to the fact that one way or another, I AM going to see loved ones who have died, including that siser.
To this day I remember her at my wedding. I remember her smile. I remember how hard she tried to get to know people at the hall. I remember how awful she was treated. I cry for her.
I hope you can find peace, TimeBandit. I am glad you posted a pic of both of them...that rat bastard husband as well as Patricia, who, yes, has a great smile.
Always remeber the love and kindness you showed for her did NOT go unnoticed by God above, and neither has the cruel treatment she received from the brothers and sisters...ESPECIALLY from her "loving shepherds".

Just had my first JW call at my house.

it's old terry the elder and his sidekick 25-30 male.. i knew terry from my childhood.
he gave many talks at conventions.

Hi, Quendi It's funny. For the longest time I haven't gotten on that site, but yesterday I wanted to find out something, so I put in the horrid www.watchtower.org. Your link above was what popped up, too. I started to read, but then I didn't want to end up puking, so I stopped. I was curious if this was a new article, but it was from 2005. Probably around the same time I hardly went to meetings, and for everything I was dealing with at the time, perhaps I was graciously spared from seeing all that crap. That would've made me even guiltier...and then who knows what would've happened.
As a coincidence, today is the 5th year anniversary between my g-friend and myself. In the past, there were many days I thought would be my last, and it breaks my heart when I read of someone actually killing themselves because it is a better alternative than living in the current state of hell they have to endure, day in, day out. Yea..Homosexuality is a choice. Fucking ignorant people
Sorry, but you can NEVER pray away the gay. You may be closeted forever &/or never act on your feelings, but rest assured, they don't magically go away, (well, maybe with Sparlock's magic "wand" they might....but that's another story altogether ) no matter how many people wish it to be so, especially the individual struggling with who they really are. If that were to be so, then I suppose that there would be no such thing as a gay Christian, because POOF! once you pray to "take the gay away", someone would be instantly "healed". Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition! But I'm afraid it ain't that easy now, is it?
So glad I NEVER have to sit in a kingdom hall seat cringing when study articles like this are done. I could never raise my hand, although I swear there were times I just wanted to and yell, "Why don't we just kill all the God damned gays and be done with 'em?" Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if people would clap or nod in agreement. I might've actually been a hero in their eyes Like I said before, I am sure if orders were given from the top Jehovah "told" the GB his people were to commence a cleansing, people would actually listen.
Anyway, sorry for another long post. Once I start, my heart rambles forth.

My immediate impression of the mom was that she was a total BITCH! And my opinion only got stronger as the vid played on. If they were trying to portray her as a concerned parent...they did quite the opposite! Controlling, uncaring and unloving. Wow! Sums up the Borg pretty damn well, come to think of it. They know of what they speak, and it shined through PERFECTLY!

I have been trying hard to do what I can to "enlighten" my family and friends who are on FB. To that end, I have posted many of the vids...the original GB vid, parodies, etc. I have asked for their honest opinion, and while I've only received two, by means of a couple who are friends of mine, I wanted to share the back & forth between us. I am hoping to keep up the fine fight. Although I haven't quite learned to upload/mirror vids (and a HEARTFELT THANKU goes to Danmera for trying to help me today), I'm doing what I can to expose these WTBTS/GB bastards for what they are.

S) Well...I'm torn - It's not a Jehovah's Witness thing either - I know Christians that are VERY against magic and such and I think it's RIDICULOUS. I don't believe that imagination and creativity are works of the devil. *I FEEL* God (howeve r you believe in Him) is meant to be loved and worshipped - Not feared because you like something as trivial as a toy. I don't pretend to know the inner workings of God obviously, but the God that I think of isn't some guy that holds every little tiny thing against you - He gave us free will knowing we'd make mistakes...And a CHILD??? I'm pretty sure he's more forgiving of them - He MADE us - He knows us better than we know ourselves. That's just my thought in general - Like I said, not really a Jehovah Witness thing but an "out there" religious view overall. :)

AK) This is actually the second lesson of the video. However, the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society/Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses has shut down almost every video that have been put up on utube. The thing is, it is THEIR OWN VIDEO. It is part of a 15 minute video that is aimed at young children Caleb's age as well as his parents. This is exactly wht the JW religion is all about...ridiculous guilt trips and brainwashing. Because this new video is aimed at such a young person THIS time, more than the usual people are pissed off...and I'm not just referring to ex witnesses. I've gotten on some boards and peopple thought some disgruntled exJW did this or it was a parody, but nope, it's the COLD hard, unfeeling facts. I think it's SICKENING & DEPLORABLE....but that's just me...lol

S) My thoughts: Wow...A kid forgets to take off his shoes and gets an uber guilt trip? What about when he REALLY makes a mistake? AND he learned the first time? I'm pretty sure NO kid is that good. (BTW: Jeff says the lesson here is as fol lows: If you don't obey your parents, Jehovah takes your teddy bear).
I'm ALL about instilling good morals and rules into your children, but to control them by having them think a higher power will be upset with them? It's like people letting their kids think that God will send them to hell if they are naughty. People make mistakes...It happens.
I grew up Catholic (as did Jeff) and neither one of us can think of a time when our parents threatened us with God or hell. Anyway...Just some more thoughts after watching the 15 minute video...AK) LOVE YOU GUYS! (yes, I'm shouting..I'm here by myself, so I can) LOL @ Jeff's teady bear comment. Thank you for watching. Probably the only friends to do so. But you are correct in your assessment of the vid-"uber guilt trip" as you say. It goes way beyond that, too. If you were in it, you'd understand more of where I'm coming from. When you're in the thick of it, you don't see ANYTHING wrong with things like this, but once you have a chance to see it for what it really is, it's disgusting. This is just the first vid. They plan on making a whole series of them. Ick. OBEY! OBEY! OBEY! Where is the love, for the LOVE OF GOD? So that's been the comments so far. I am hoping there will be more. In any case, THANK YOU to ALL that have contributed to keep the vids and Sparlock alive! It's so encouraging to see how the WTBTS/GB has brought us all together on this one. It truly is a united brotherhood
